One of the first institutions to offer education in Biotechnology in Marathwada region, the Institute of Biosciences & Technology was established in 2000. It is well-equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and infrastructure to provide experiment-based learning to its students and prepare them to build a bright future in emerging fields of science. The Institute offers UG, PG and Ph.D. programs in biotechnology, bioinformatics, food technology, microbiology, food nutrition and many more subjects.

With 20 years of academic, industry connect and research excellence, IBT collaborates with national and international institutes to provide maximum benefits to students with a strong research, innovation and incubation eco-system. IBT is a constituent institute of MGM University from the academic year 2020-21.

Through the keen interest MGM aimed to establish the department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. In the year 2001-2002 the department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics was established with the vision to provide knowledge-based technological services to satisfy the needs of society and the industry with the help of Biotech areas.
The college was started with limited resources and laboratory facilities. In the year 2004-05 MGM launched a course B.Sc. Agricultural Biotechnology under the affiliation of Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani. With the launch of this course the department of biotechnology and Bioinformatics become crown in the area of Marathwada region.
A small root turned into an huge tree with all the branches. In the year 2005-2006 MGM visualized the urge of field of informatics. Keeping the attitude to excel the field of biotechnology, the course of M.Sc. Bioinformatics was launched under the affiliation of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Chh. Sambhajinagar.
